DMV
The Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) is where you go to get your drivers licence and identification card as well as to register your vehicle. Take note that they are at different offices. Read on to find out the process. We recommend bringing cash or a cheque to avoid credit card fees.
Drivers Licence / State ID
Pre-requisite: Military ID, Passport, Singapore drivers license (if applicable), I94 form
For your drivers licence, you will sit for a theory test first. Click here to read the theory manual and here to attempt some practice questions. Aim for 100% in these questions to have a better chance of passing the theory test.
After passing your theory test, the staff at the DMV will give you a contact list of the practical test assessors. After you pass your practical test and submit your documents to the DMV, you will receive your drivers license by mail.
Vehicle Registration
Once you have purchased a vehicle, bring the title with the assignment of title field signed by the previous owner or the bill of sale or a Manufacturer's Certificate of Origin (if it is a new car).
